Recently Completed Projects Borgata Hotel Expansion – Phase II43-story luxury boutique hotel (non-casino) named The Water Club at Borgata. 800 guest rooms and suites. A two-story, 36,000-square-foot spa including 15 treatment rooms, 25-yard lap pool and fitness center. 18,000-square-feet of meeting space. Six upscale retail shops: La Perla, Just Cavalli, Hearts on Fire (diamonds, its first retail shop in North America), Hugo Boss, Fixation and Cameo (signature Water Club items and sundries). Five indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Luxury spa named “Immersion” on the 32nd floor with two-story windows. Food service for the spa, pool, special events and in-room dining created and overseen by Geoffrey Zacharian, chef/owner of Manhattan’s Country and Town restaurants. Created 800 new jobs (ratio of one staff per room). Opened June 2008. Cost: $400 million Courtyard by MarriottCombination of old Quality Inn and Friends School at South Carolina and Pacific Avenues. 206 guest rooms (including 4 suites), plus meeting rooms and boardroom. Workout room, bar and on-site parking. First new non-casino hotel to open in Atlantic City in more than a decade. $8.4 million project. Opened in May 2008 Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Atlantic CityModeled after the famous Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. 14 treatment rooms and new rooftop pool. Signature Roman Rituals – three distinct pools varying in temperature and size. Tea room with an in-house Tea Sommelier. Rain drop therapy, $5,000 signature Deici Mani (10 hands) massage, men’s zone with men’s facial care, specialized therapies. Fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and a fitness concierge. Opened in June 2008 The Chelsea Atlantic CityComplete renovation of Holiday Inn/Howard Johnson’s properties. Both hotels closed on October 15, 2007 for renovations. Redesigned as 331-room boutique hotel. Includes the Sea Spa with a year-round outdoor saltwater pool. Fifth floor “social” space includes pool, private cabanas, lounge/bar areas. Two restaurants from Philadelphia restaurateur Stephen Starr: Chelsea Prime (steaks) and 24-hour Teplitzky’s (upscale café). Guests can enjoy beach cabanas and beach chairs with food and beverage service. Grand opening in July 2008. Tropicana UpgradesHavana Rooftop Slots completed May 2008: completely redesigned 3,000-foot slots area on a raised section of the casino, including: Cuban themed murals Specially uniformed staff Authentic Cuban music Specialty drinks and coffees Special aromas Exclusive Havana Gold progressive-link slot machines Rumba Lounge completed May 2008: New Casino-floor lounge with tropical cocktails and island music, plasma TVs bar-top video poker slots and live entertainment on weekends. Harrah’s Atlantic City Hotel Expansion47-story, 964-room hotel tower that makes Harrah’s the tallest hotel casino in Atlantic City. · 183 suites and 13 super-suites for high rollers.· Boosted hotel capacity by 60 percent to approximately 2,600 total rooms.Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa with 24 treatment rooms. The Pool: largest indoor pool in Atlantic City featuring a 90-foot-high glass dome over a 23,000 square foot pool and tropical oasis ($1 million worth of tropical foliage), 7 Jacuzzis, cabanas and pool bar (becomes a nightclub and special event space at night). 500-seat coffee shop (new location and elegant design for the original Reflections coffee shop). New 650-seat Waterfront Buffet with casually elegant seating and unique food stations (sushi, tappan grill, chop salads and more). Taste of the Shore food court with local favorite light fare and Ben & Jerry’s. Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa with 24 treatment rooms. Seven retail stores, including a Sony innovations store. New fitness center. 1,000-space valet parking garage. Project also includes refurnishing all Atrium Tower suites. Spa, pool, retail and restaurants opened summer 2007; hotel opened early 2008. Cost: $550 million. Atlantic City Outlets - The Walk Phase II additionUpscale outlet shopping, dining and entertainment complex along Michigan Avenue between Convention Center and Atlantic Avenue Original section featured 60 stores in approximately 320,000 square feet in pedestrian-friendly, multi-block complex; completed as of October 2004, cost $76 million. Phase II added: · 350,000 square feet, encompassing five additional blocks along the Atlantic City Expressway corridor into the city.· 30 to 40 brand name retail stores including a Nike Factory Store, Designer Fragrance & Cosmetic Co., Big Dogs Sportswear, Eddie Bauer Outlet, The Children's Place, Correlle/Corning/Revere outlet, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Totes/Sunglass World , J. Crew, BCBG, MAX, AZRIA, Jones New York and others.· Completed Summer 2007.· Developed by the Cordish Company of Baltimore.· Cost: $155 million.§ To accompany the project, a $38.4 million parking garage with 1,200 to 1,800 spaces is planned at Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues.Trump Taj Mahals's Spice Road and Property RenovationsSpice Road retail and dining promenade in formerly empty corridor between self-park garage and ballroom/meeting room area, completed late 2007. Eateries include Burger, Freeze (frozen alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, plus beer and wine), Candy, Plate (24-hour, 300-seat restaurant), GO (grab-and-go sandwiches and salads and 60-seat café), Starbucks. Retail outlets include: Accents, Stem and Trump Exchange Seven new penthouse suites opened July 2007 at a cost of $14 million. 800 hotel rooms renovated and outfitted with luxury bedding and state-of-the art digital movie systems. Renovation of pool and spa areas, with tanning beds, swimsuit dryer and plasma TVs added. Guest rooms and public space equipped with wireless Internet access. Il Mulino Italian restaurant from New York scheduled to open late summer 2008. Addition of a high-end Asian games area, Rim noodle bar and lounge on the casino floor. Casino floor renovations completed end of 2007. Renovation of baccarat pit and poker completed end of 2007. Cost $25 million -- part of multi-million dollar renovations of all three Trump properties in Atlantic City (Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza and Trump Marina). The Pier Shops at CaesarsTotal redevelopment by Harrah’s Entertainment of the old Ocean One/Million Dollar Pier. Renamed The Pier Shops at Caesars Partially opened in July 2006, fully opened by mid-2007. 575,000 square feet of leasable space. Houses premier restaurants, exclusive retail shops and world-class entertainment venues. Restaurants by famous regional chefs and operators such as Stephen Starr and Lyons Group: Buddakan, Trinity Irish Pub, Game On!, Phillips Seafood Restaurant, Sonsie, Souzai Sushi and Sake, and The Continental. Restaurants feature expansive beach, Boardwalk and ocean views. 90 retail shops include A/X Armani Exchange, Bebe, Burberry, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Tommy Bahama’s Vilebrequin, Tiffany & Co. and many others of the same caliber. IT’SUGAR, on the first level, features candy of all types and an area where you can design your own candy bar. Larimar Aveda Lifestyle Salon & Spa opened in Summer 2007 with an array of services for men, women and children. The far end of The Pier Shops features a free hourly music-light-dancing fountain show called “The Show,” visible from the first three levels. Project developer is Gordon Group Holdings, LLC, creators of The Forum Shops in Las Vegas, in partnership with the Taubman Centers which operates The Pier Shops. A sky bridge connects the second floor of the Pier Shops with Caesars Atlantic City casino. Cost: approx. $175 million. Atlantic City International Airport Expansions and Upgrades1,400-space parking garage completed June 2008. Cost: $24.6 million. Part of planned improvements including runway upgrades, new baggage screening facilities, opening up additional terminal space and construction of an airport hotel. Quality Hotel Bayside Resort Exhibition Center 20,000-plus square foot exhibition space. Can accommodate 100 10'x10' booths, 125 10'x8' booths or 565 6'x3' tables. Can serve 2,035 people theater style or 1,600 people banquet style. Catering is done on premises. Opened May 2007 Gardner’s Basin / Atlantic City Aquarium – Ocean Life Center additionsNew Rainforest exhibit opened May 2008. New touch tank added in May 2007 with sharks and rays. Additional tropical fish tanks added in 2007. New boutique "Never Too Spoiled" and additional crafters added in 2008. Caesars Atlantic City - Theater RenovationComplete renovation of Circus Maximus Theater Cost: $9.5 million Completed: May 2008 Caesars Hotel Tower Refurbishment Renovations to 680 luxury and premium guest rooms in the Centurion Tower with custom crafter wood headboards and spa-inspired bathrooms including mirrors with built-in televisions. Upgrades to 156 suites and 22 grand suites in Ocean Tower. New furniture, carpeting, wall coverings, bedding, plasma TVs, bathroom fixtures and Internet technology. Completed June 2008. Cost: $75 million. NEW RESTAURANT ROUND_UP Atlantic City’s resorts have recently attracted a number of well-known restaurants and chefs to the city. Here are some of the most recent restaurant additions and announcements: Il Mulino at Trump Taj Mahal, opening August/September 2008 – Il Mulino New York in Greenwich Village has been ranked the number one Italian restaurant in New York by the Zagat survey for more than two decades. Patsy’s Italian Restaurant at Hilton – Frank Sinatra’s favorite New York Italian restaurant now offers its original recipes at the Hilton, along with a marketplace where customers can purchase items such as Patsy’s sauces and cookbook. Izakaya Japanese Café at Borgata, opening summer 2008 – an innovative Japanese restaurant and nightlife experience by chef Michael Schulson, host of Style Network’s “Pantry Raid.” Food service by Geoffrey Zakarian at The Water Club – the chef/owner of Manhattan’s country and Town restaurants created a menu for in-room dining at the new boutique-style hotel. McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant at Harrah’s – the renowned fresh seafood chain is introducing its first restaurant in a casino hotel this fall. Chelsea Prime and Teplitzky’s at The Chelsea – two new dining concepts from Stephen Starr include a steakhouse with an outdoor terrace and an upscale 24-hour café and lounge. A Taste of the Shore at Harrah’s – classic local and national favorites in a casual food court setting include Philly Soft Pretzel Factory, Walt’s Original Primo Pizza, Sack O’Subs and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. 6ix…A Bistro, Red Pearl and The Reserve/Preview Bar at Bally’s – New concepts include 6ix, an upscale, casual 214-hour eatery in a patio-like setting with a fresh menu that includes homemade ice cream; Red Pearl with Asian-inspired tapas and family-style entrees based on traditional fare; and The Reserve, a traditional steakhouse ambiance accenting seasonal, locally grown produce, coupled with Preview Bar, with signature drinks and seafood tapas. One Atlantic with catering by Peachtree & Ward – a contemporary event space with ocean views, currently under construction on top of The Pier Shops at Caesars, slated to open in spring 2009, with gourmet catering by Philadelphia’s exclusive Peachtree & Ward. Currently Under Construction Trump Taj Mahal – New Hotel TowerDubbed the Chairman Tower, 786 rooms (716 standard guest rooms and 70 suites with ocean views). Guest rooms will be larger than usual at a minimum of 500 square feet. 39 stories. Broke ground July 2006. Completion expected by fall of 2008. Cost: $250 million. Revel Entertainment CasinoNew megacasino to be built by Revel Entertainment on a 20-acre tract next to Showboat casino bordered by Oriental, New Jersey and Metropolitan Avenues and the Boardwalk. Revel was selected by Morgan Stanley investment bank, which acquired the property in mid-2006 for $70 million. Revel is headed by Kevin DeSanctis, former president and COO of Penn National Gaming Inc. Tishman Construction was selected as Construction Manager in May 2007. Anticipated groundbreaking in late 2008. Anticipated completion in late 2010. Will add a total of 3,800 rooms in two towers – 1,900 in each (may open one tower first, then open a second tower at a later date) Towers will top off at 710 feet, becoming the tallest in AC and have an ocean theme Expected to have 150,000 square feet of casino space on two levels and 500,000 square feet of entertainment, dining and retail space including a 5,000 seat special events center and a wedding chapel. It is going to be smoke-free. Atlantic City Boardwalk Façade ProgramFunded by Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. Renovations to several blocks of Boardwalk storefronts and Fountain of Light in Brighton Park at Park Place and the Boardwalk. Addition of decorative touches including brick and stucco facades, cupolas and new rooftop signs. Work to be performed by Atlantic City Special Improvement District. Two blocks (1500 and 2500 blocks) and Fountain of Light completed in May 2007 1400 and 3000 blocks began construction end of 2007 1300 and 2600 blocks began construction early 2008 Cost: $100 million. New York to Atlantic City EXPRESS Train ServiceCooperative effort among NJ Transit, Borgata, Harrah’s Entertainment and New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. Dubbed “ACES” (Atlantic City Express Service). Planned to operate a round-trip schedule on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Cars being designed for and marketed to mid- and upper-tier gamblers, and affluent, young New Yorkers. Route offers direct, one-stop service from Penn Station to Newark; from Newark along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor lines; switching to NJ Transit’s Atlantic City line without interruption to the rail station at the Atlantic City Convention Center (estimated time 2 hrs 40 minutes). The joint venture will pay NJ Transit $3.8 million/year to operate the service. Cost: $15 million to purchase and re-fit eight new multilevel rail cars. Start date: 2009. ANTICIPATED FUTURE DEVELOPMENT Pinnacle CasinoSands Casino was purchased in 2006 by Pinnacle Entertainment of Nevada. Purchase includes land in front of Sands up to the Boardwalk. Purchase price: $350 million Pinnacle demolished the existing property on October 18, 2007; new casino completion projected for 2012. Project is currently in the design phase. Estimated construction cost: $2 billion. Atlantic Beach Resort & Casino8.23-acre site near Atlantic City Hilton purchased for $79.2 million in November 2006 acquired from Colony Capital LLC of Los Angeles, parent company of Atlantic City Hilton and Resorts Atlantic City casinos. Property is located several blocks south of the Atlantic City Hilton. Includes former site of Atlantic City High School, which currently serves as a parking lot for the Atlantic City Hilton. Purchasing group and developer is AC Gateway LLC, headed by Wallace R. Barr, former CEO of Caesars Entertainment Inc., and Curtis Bashaw, former executive director of NJ Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. 2,000 room hotel tower, 832 feet high (would be the tallest in the city). 210,000 square feet of gaming space. 350,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment. 150,000 square feet of convention space. 4,200 car garage at the former high school site, with a possible 50o-room hotel on top of the garage as phase two of the project. Plans include proposed relocation of the historic Knife & Fork restaurant and a World War I monument. Construction could start in 2009. MGM Mirage, Inc - City Centre East· Announced plans for a $5 billion casino/resort on October 10, 2007.· Will be a smaller version of the CityCenter development on Las Vegas Strip.· Will include: three hotel towers with more than 3,000 rooms, a world-class spa, 500,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space and a convention center.· Construction is expected to start in 2008· Site is located in the Marina District next to Borgata (72 acres of land)· One of the towers will be 57 stories high (800 feet), the second tower 55 stories (690) feet, and a third 44 stories (569 feet).· The site will consist of 280,000 feet of gaming space (5,000 slots and 200 tables games with a large poker room).· Anticipated opening: 2012Margaritaville CasinoCoastal Marina, LLC entered into an agreement in June 2008 to purchase Trump Marina Hotel Casino. To be re-branded Margaritaville Casino, as per an agreement with Jimmy Buffet. Purchase price: $316 million. Prasada CondominiumsUltra-luxury condominium and boutique hotel plans announced in March 2008. 50-story, non-casino tower at Boardwalk and Kentucky Avenue. 200 hotel rooms and 204 exclusive private residences. Restaurants operated by celebrity chefs, plus a nightclub and a lavish pool and spa “Prasada” is Sanskrit for generosity or grace; the name is tentative and may be renamed when the developer finds a luxury hotel brand to operate the property. Construction expected to begin by early 2009 with completion in 2010 or 2011. Developed by Christopher DiGeorge, head of DiGeorge Atlantic Properties LLC of Philadelphia. Cost: $300 million. Condominium Developments Approximately 20 residential projects are currently in the planning process. Most are upscale condo developments with prices starting around $500,000. Most are intended to be second/vacation homes. Atlantic City Council recently passed a tax abatement ordinance for new residences to spur development. Highlights: Victoria Tower, a 38-story highrise with 400 units along 385 feet of beachfront property in the Inlet area. Reflections, a Lennar Corp. development that has broken ground for a six-story development with 179 units, also in the Inlet section. Marbella, a 36-story development with 331 units that is in its final stages of approvals from the city and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. A four-story development with 250 multi-story units planned by Prestigious Homes adjacent to the existing Bella Condominiums. The Breakers, a 160-unit luxury, gated condo complex along the Boardwalk between Annapolis and Richmond Avenues planned by Sorrentino Development Corporation. The Chelsea, a 21-story highrise with 197 units at Elberon and Atlantic Avenues. A 400-unit luxury condo complex with a high-end health spa and 60,000 square feet of retail space on the former site of the Trump’s World’s Fair Casino, developed by BET Investments owned by Bruce Toll of Toll Brothers. Tenor Square, 18 townhomes at Indiana and Hobart Avenues priced from the mid-$300,000s, being built by the Genesis Group. The Landings at Caspian Point, a Kushner Companies/Westminster Communities development of 390 residential condos, two-story duplexes and two-story penthouse units at the former Garwood Mills site on Maine and Caspian Avenues. Aquella, a Creating Real Estate Innovations development, will be located on Carson Drive across the harbor from Borgata. Will consist of 16 town homes, seven estate homes, and a marina building with a two-story condo. The project is in accordance with the Energy Star compliance guidelines, making it one of the most environmentally friendly projects in South Jersey.
